Introduction
 
International Student and Scholar Services- I3S  (formerly known International Student Centre-ISC), UTM International is located at S19 building, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Johor Bahru and Level 8, Menara Razak UTM Kuala Lumpur. The goal of the ISC is to provide services that promote and support international education at the university. All members of the university community and international students are welcome to come to the UTM I3S and meet in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
 
Staff are available on site to share their knowledge from issues such as immigration, crossing cultures and opportunities abroad, to tips on how to successfully adapt to Malaysian society. We also provides student mobility or international programs for inbound and outbound students. The Centre provides services to over 3000 international students attending the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia from over 50 countries.
 
Adapting to a new cultural environment and a new education system presents many challenges and barriers. For many students, the greatest difficulties often arise from the absence of a social support system, inadequate English proficiency and the emotional stress of coping with a new environment. I3S staff has special expertise and offers a wide range of services and programs to help students establish a support network, improve their spoken English and effectively deal with psychological and emotional stress.


Objective 

  • To ensure all UTM international students and their dependents have valid traveling documents, according to the Malaysia Law of Immigration throughout their duration of study and stay in Malaysia effectively.
  • To provide assistance and advice to UTM International Students regarding Malaysia immigration matters efficiently.
  • To develop and regulate policies to encourage UTM international students extra-curricular activities actively.
Function 
  • To provide immigration matters assistance to UTM international students and dependents in accordance to Malaysia Law of Immigration.
  • To develop and manage UTM International Students extra-curricular activities in accordance to the University’s aspiration to nurture leadership skills and personal development.
  • To manage and disseminate information related to the welfare of UTM international students.
  • To develop and implement policies toward improving services delivery to UTM International Students.
